Day 6: A song that makes you cry.

Song that makes me cry, sigh................

God of mercy, God of grace,
Show the brightness of thy face;
Shine upon us, Saviour, shine,
Fill thy Church with light divine;
And thy saving health extend
Unto earth's remotest end.

Let the people praise thee, Lord!
Be by all that live adored;
Let the nations shout and sing
Glory to their Saviour King;
At thy feet their tribute pay,
And thy holy will obey.

Let the people praise thee, Lord;
Earth shall then her fruits afford;
God to man his blessing give,
Man to God devoted live;
All below, and all above,
One in joy and light and love.

H.F. Lyte

Now when you read the words, it doesn't really make it seem like a song that would make you cry. It's actually a hymn and its sang alot in the Anglican church and they sing in such a way it always makes me tear up, not in a sad way though a happy tear up. I am one of those people who believes God is a God of compassion and forgiveness, so whenever I hear this hymn it always reminds of his mercy and grace.

Day 5: A photo of something you really hate.

A photo of something you really hate.........

I have always thought that the word "HATE" is such a strong word. Whenever persons says that they hate something or someone it immediately gets my attention. Its one of those words I think based on it's sound, spelling or even the way its expressed, gives a clear cut idea of what is meant. You know how people always say" say what you mean, and mean what you say", well I think the word HATE has that down to the T.

There are few things I would say I really HATE, so I decided just post pictures of things that immediately came to mind.

Enough said .....................................

Drug abuse is such a horrible disease. I hate to hear, see or even watch movies about drug abuse, to include American Gangster. Its a really sad topic. Drugs, or any addiction for that matter has shown the ability to eventually tear people and families to shreds.
I didn't put the picture up to judge anyone, believe, you, me.
However, this is something I personally hate. I believe it just takes that one thing to push you over the edge. Many persons became addicts by accident, someone gave them drugs not knowing what it was; got that "high" and the story starts or should I say ends.
I remember meeting a drug addict once, he described himself as two persons; himself and the addict. He told me he had no control over himself and his lowest point was when he stole from his mother to support his habit. He looked down on himself and said, " when I was in my prime I could easily get a girl like you, ( we laughed here ) but now I would sell these scraps I have on for the drugs.

HATE.........

Day 4: A photo of you and your family.

Day 3: A photo of you and your friends.

A photo of you and your friends.

This one is a good one...

Before I get started I must say The Lord has surely blessed me with great friends. I know that they are great because they have influenced my life from the day I met them till now, and other persons who they have met along their journey love them as well. Though I may not see them as often as I would like or we may not be as close as we once were, when I see them its like we were never apart. I can happily say that in my memoirs there are no stories of back stabbing or "bad mind "friends, just great adventures with good people, who are getting on with the act of getting on.

So here we go........

L-R Top Lash, Ants, Me Middle Crystal, Netty, Audi Bottom Speedy, Jovs
These girls and I had 5 solid years of bonding over catching water, playing volleyball, punishments, belly aches from hours of laughter to eating horrible food. Good Times I tell you!!!

This picture is sort of random cause quite a few persons who are in this photo never even lived on this dorm. Good Times

Day 2: The meaning behind your name.

The meaning behind your name.

When I was younger I remember telling people oh "my name is just popular", now when the passing years bring wisdom I realize my name is just plain old "common"......LaToya

How often does two of your closest friends share your name? I guess my parents thought they were slick spelling mine - LaToya, unlike the regular spelling, Latoya.

Funny enough they told me my name was actually suppose to be Alexis after Alexis in Dynasty... but I'm gonna say this before the story, you know how they say kids say the darnest things...I think it more like parents say the darnest things. Their excuse for not naming me Alexis was because Alexis in the show was tooo wicked, yes roll those eyes when you think of Latoya Jackson.When I brought it up, they - the parents explained that my father had a Toyota pick up that he loved and LaToya was the closest name to it. Now I don't know bout you but give mi wicked Alexis over the old van any day, but as I said... Parents say the darnest things.

So on to the meaning and can I tell you its the first I'm ever seeing a meaning for my name...as weird as it sounds

1. The girl's name Latoya \l(a)-to-
is pronounced la-TOY-ah. It is of Spanish origin, and the meaning of Latoya is "victorious one". Derived from a short form of Victoria, or a blend of La- with Toya.

2. The name Latoya is a baby girl name. The name Latoya comes from the African-American origin. In English the meaning of the name Latoya is: A woman who is honored by others.

Not looking bad after all, and you know what I won't even tempt myself to look what Alexis mean, I'm just gonna let it go.

My last name LINDO is actually my most treasured of all my names but I promised to make it was interesting as possible so until next time

Enjoy the Metamorphosis

Day 1: A recent photo of you & 5 interesting facts about yourself.

A recent photo & 5 interesting facts about myself.......

Lets get cracking

1. I had a myomectomy in 2008.

2. The state of my room gives a glimpse into what is going on with me. My room also shows the moodiness of my talents, the artist, the business woman, the baker (this is open for debate), everything. So I can never really be described as neat or untidy based on my room, it really depends on whats going on at that time.

3. One of the main reasons why I like church (thats church as in the building not God) is that you are allowed and encouraged to SING. No matter how off key you sound, persons aren't allowed to give you "the look". Yea, you know "the look". I am an Anglican, so you know we love hymns and ahhhhhh I just let it all loose.

4. Anything I want to know my first instinct is to Google it. No matter how simple or complex..I Google It. I actually researched visiting the Google Headquarters but found out due to security restrictions visitors are not allowed :-(. I don't know why I even do it but ask me something and I don't know it I'm gonna "Google It"

5. If there was one thing I could bring to a deserted island it would be my entire family, every single one of them the good, the bad and the ugly. It certainly won't be deserted after that, and some will agree it would certainly provide good entertainment till we get rescued.

Hope you found them interesting

Cup Cake Wars Part 2

I recently read a blog, written by a lady who owed a successful bakery. She got into baking because she wanted to bake her son’s First Birthday Cake and the rest is history as they say. I saw this story as inspiration. Yea I’m no Betty Home Maker, but come one Betty must have had her days and she had to start somewhere right? Right????

So I'm back at it......................
Cup Cake Wars Part 2,
Entitled - Never give up, No matter what, Rise to the challenge,
So here we go again.........

So I rushed off to the supermarket with a smell of Red Velvet in the air.

As ironic as this may sound, I’m not a fan of pastry but come on does Martha Stewart like every single things she makes?

So for part 2 of Cup Cake Wars, I decided to go up against the Big Guns....the guys who I think put the VELVET in Red Velvet.

Pastry Passions in Sovereign Center...need I say more. Pastry Passion was where I fell in love with Red Velvet for real, yea I heard they were good but no one told me it was roll your eyes over good...

I would be the judge fair and square - Pastry Passions vs Papillion.....

It’s on like Donkey Kong

The ingredients

Part 1 – Wet Mixture, I’m guessing the Red in the Velvet is made in this step

If you never believed it was RED!!!!

Part 2 – Dry Mixture

The Velvet, you think?

From the last battle I invested in another cup cake pan, ready for battle me sey..................

Red meets Velvet, and become one, true love?

Looking good, watch out Pastry Passions

The enemy........

I hate this stove...it cost me the battle once again..grrhh

The results....burnt. AGAIN grhhhhhh

After this... I gained the Household name – The Mighty Burner

Not looking bad after all a guess, that stove going be the death of me and my baking career..grhhhh

Ok, Ok I’m defiantly going to give this one to Pastry Passions. Mine did taste good but I didn’t get that eye roll over effect I was going for......so till next time
